Ingredients

1kg Mackeral, Kingfish or Mulloway
1 tablespoon garlic paste
2 eggs
2 cups Gram Flour (Besan) found at Woolworths
1 teaspoon National Black Pepper Powder (Indian)
Salt as required
Oil for frying
1/2 packet (50g) National Fish Masala

Instructions

1. Combine masala (reserve 1 teaspoon) salt and garlic to a paste
2. Coat fish with paste mixture
3. Let the fish marinate for an hour
4. Combine gram flour, reserved masala and pepper powder
5. Beat in eggs to make a smooth, thick batter
6. Add small amounts of water to batter if required
7. Dip the fish in batter and deep fry in hot oil
